WARNING, FIRST ATTEMPT AT USING A WACOM TABLET SO EXCUSE ANY CHEESINESS. CLOSER VIEW FOR MORE DETAIL ALSO.
Well, what better way to start using a graphite tablet than to start colouring on your own pictures. This is the colouring how i forsee Rustbucket, looking kinda weathered if you ask me. I guess not a bad attempt for a couple of hours and my first attempt.

You have good tablet skills already. I like this because it recalls chinese wall scrolls and an anime called 'Furi Kuri'. The light is a little bit diffused for the sun being almost completely uncovered, but that works equally well as it setting or rising. One of the first things I noticed was the texture of the grass. While it's nice, it's in more detail and clearer (perhaps because grass is easier to draw?) than the rest of the picture, and it draws the eye away from the subject of your picture. The position of the head was well choosen, the clouds in the background frame it well, and the line of the body and its counterpoint in the sun work to draw the eye in. I'm amazed at how you manage to make his face so full of expression when he has so few features to express with.
how do you like the tablet, i'm mulling over in my head if its worth it or not. If i can produce the same quality work, excellent, no more buying paper and inks/pencils... but i have doubts that I'll lose soemthing on the way. ie it doesn't look like traditional media anymore, especially when I just want to do simple b&w. what do you think?
